摘要
Aim: To determine the frequency of meconium stained liquor in pregnancies Complicated with intrahepatic cholestasis. Setting: Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Lady Willingdon Hospital Lahore. Population: Pregnant women at term with intrahepatic cholestasis delivered either by spontaneous vaginal delivery or C-section Design: It was a descriptive case series study Duration of study: 21st October, 2017 till 21st April, 2018. Methods: A total of 145 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were admitted through outdoor department. Baseline investigations, LFT's, viral screening, trans-abdominal and obstetrics ultrasound all was done before making diagnosis. Serial maternal serum ALT and AST levels were done every 2-3 weeks by hematologist in Lady Willingdon Hospital laboratory. The course of pregnancy was monitored to 40 weeks gestation or spontaneous onset of labor whichever comes first. Main outcome measures: The outcome (meconium stained liquor) was measured at the time of delivery. Conclusion: This study concludes that meconium stained amniotic fluid was seen in higher number of cases i.e., 42(29%). So females with ICP must be considered high risk for poor neonatal outcome and preventive strategies should be adapted to reduce the risk of meconium stained amniotic fluid.
