摘要
3D models derived from physical measurements are becoming of fundamental importance for Cultural Heritage buildings, sites and artworks. In, particular the recent success of models integrating 3D shape with some extra information (e.g. semantic, structure, materials) is partially moving the attention from the mere generation of a point cloud to an easy integration of such extra information in the 3D model. Such process typically requires a relatively high level of human interaction, resulting in a quite laborious work, often requiring several processing steps performed with different software. Motivated by these considerations, this paper deals with the process of automatically moving from a point cloud to a conveniently geometrically simple but informative 3D model of artworks, and, more specifically, considering a low relief in the ancient archive, Palazzo Bo (Padua, Italy), as case study.
