Solid-state physics towards pulsed ultra-high magnetic fields at ISSP

摘要
The state-of-the art at the megagauss laboratory in Institute for Solid State Physics, University of Tokyo has been presented. The electro-magnetic flux compression method with the use of a feed gap compensator has successfully generated the maximum magnetic field up to 622T, which is the in-house maximum magnetic field available in the world. Specification of the magnetic pulse generated by this method was described. Magneto-optical measurements especially aiming at studying high-density exciton states were discussed, and proposed as one of the attractive subjects for researches in ultra-high magnetic fields. Quantum transport measurements recently applied to the ultra-high magnetic field were demonstrated. We also have described other challenges for precise measurements using micro-electro-mechanical systems applied to an oxide superconductor. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
