摘要
Adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is a key aspect for the success and sustainability of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME). This study aimed at investigating issues potential to influence the adoption of ICT by SMEs in a developing country setting, Tanzania. Results show that, adoption of ICT by SMEs in Tanzania is influenced by firm-based issues and context-based issues. Firm-based issues are the influence of the owner, nature of the SME, planning practices, investment power, user ICT skills and awareness, and context-based issues; cyber safety, and adequacy of access infrastructure. We argue that, high adoption of ICT in SMEs in Tanzania will be achieved if SMEs will address firm-based issues and government address context based issues.
