Fabrication and properties of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy multilayer superconducting tapes and coils

摘要
A flexible 100m-class Bi-2212 multilayer superconducting tape was fabricated by the continuous heat treatment technique using a Ag-0.2at% Mg sheath. The sheath material did not change the Jc value of the multilayer superconducting tape and doubled the tensile stress tolerance compared with pure Ag sheathed Bi-2212 tape. The J(c) value of the Ag-0.2at%Mg alloy sheathed tape was above 10(5)A/cm(2) at 4.2K, 21T and 1.3x10(5)A/cm(2) at 20K,0T. A stacked pancake coil fabricated by the ''react & wind'' technique carried 120A at 10K and 90A at 20K. The coil could be operated for 24hours under 18K with operating current of 75A.
