The Intangible Heritage and the Current Situation of Sport in China

The cultural heritage of sport in China, as part of the national intangible heritage, should be protected, according to the UNESCO. Domestically, China's General Office of the State Council has issued the Suggestion on Enhancing the Protection of China's Intangible Heritage to see the progress in this aspect. Although our sports heritage has intrinsic historical, cultural, spiritual, aesthetic and commercial values, it has been faced with multiple problems like environmental degradation, gaps in transmission and the challenges of globalizing lifestyle. Three countermeasures have been identified: preserving the heritage's origin, translocation the heritage and building up a heritage resource pool.
