摘要
Samples of the Baltic Sea water and surface bottom sediments were analyzed for concentration and composition of dissolved and suspended aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The data obtained provide evidence for an important role of sorption in sedimentation. The fractionation of hydrocarbons is caused by their biochemical transformation and redistribution of genetically different components during their migration. The effect of autochthonous and anthropogenic sources on hydrocarbon composition is mainly developed in the shallow-water zone, where the sedimentation rate is higher than the rate of hydrocarbon transformation.
