摘要
The Internet is a worldwide collection of networks tied together by a common protocol that allows the users of the network to access services provided on any of the other networks. It is the most expanded support of information exchange in the near future worldwide. Healthcare professionals and physicians from around the world will subscribe to this facility of electronic information management in order to improve their professional knowledge. For the visually oriented specialization like dermatology, sharing images and text on the Internet has a great potential. An image database is available through the WWW and can be used for student education as well as a reference image atlas for physicians. The resolution, compression, and color depth of the image must be optimized to enable fast access and offer acceptable image quality. A new imaging format Flash Pix, that lets you publish extremely high-resolution images over the Internet is also presented. New technologies (streaming video) have been developed that Internet users, including those using standard 56 kbps modems, can receive video files compressed in this way within an acceptable period of time.
