摘要:
As simulations are used to portray higher resolutions of combat, the detailed effects of how the terrain is represented will play a more significant effect on the outcome of the simulation. The goal of the work presented in this paper is to investigate how low level terrain representational decisions affect Line-of-Sight (LOS) computations in Combat simulations. We found that while different LOS computations have a high correlation in general, some of the differences occur under conditions where that may have an impact on high-resolution simulations. The results obtained indicate that the primary reason for the observed discrepancies is the difference in sensor/target elevation that is computed by the different terrain representations.
