摘要
A novel moment, called normal projection invariant moment, is proposed for the classification and retrieval of 3D models. The normal-projection-moment is constructed by withdrawing two invariants of a 3D model and has the invariance of geometry convertion by normalization. The normalized normal-projection-moment of certain power can express characters of 3D models and be used for classification and retrieval of 3D models. The paper presents the details of construction, testify the invariance and make some experiment results comparing with the 3D Zernike moment. As is revealed by the results, the normal-projection-moment has a good performance in 3D model retrieval.
