摘要：

The present study focuses attention on the issue of protection of the external borders of the European Union regarding the infiltration of illegal migrants on the territory of Europe. The author points out the need for a comprehensive approach to this issue by the European Union and individual Member States. The result of this effort was the creation of the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation on the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union - FRONTEX in 2005. Subsequently structure, operation and content of the activities of this institution, also criticism of its action on the part of NGOs are analyzed.
