Research on zeolites application possibilities for municipal sewage treatment

摘要
The importance of natural zeolites in the sewage treatment processes increased especially during last few years. They are applied in different processes sewage treatment technology. Tests carried out at sewage treatment plants in Germany and in Hungary show positive results of zeolites application, but still intensive research is carried out on optimisation of their application. The paper presents part of research being carried out at Technical University of Koszalin in the range of natural zeolites application possibility for municipal sewage treatment. During this research Zeoforte zeolite, specially modified with iron (III) sulphate for phosphorus removal, produced by Zeotrade - Hungary, was used. Research results present course and efficacy of model and real sewage treatment processes under static conditions as well as influence of selected parameters on cleaning efficacy. Gained results show possibilities of contaminants load reduction, especially in case of phosphorus, when zeolite is used.
