In this paper, we consider the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the fourth-order obstacle problem which is the variational inequality problem of the first kind. By de. ning the finite element approximation solution, we obtain the optimal error estimate. (C) 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
