Eccentric crack problem in soft ferromagnetic elastic strip under uniform magnetic field

摘要
The problem of an eccentric Griffith crack in an infinitely long strip of a soft ferromagnetic elastic material under a uniform magnetostatic field is considered within the framework of linear magnetoelasticity. The crack is parallel to the edges of the strip and subjected to a normal pressure. The magnetic field is perpendicular to the crack surfaces. Fourier integral transform technique is used to reduce the problem to two singular integral equations for the magnetic and elastic boundary conditions. Solutions of the singular integral equations are obtained by using the Chebyshev polynomial expansions. Numerical results on the stress intensity factors are presented graphically. The results indicate that the magnetic field, the geometric parameters and the magnetic properties of the material have considerable coupled effects on the stresses near the crack tip.
