When using DSC for analyzing properties of materials, it is necessary to differentiate between thermodynamic and kinetic effects. The software program described is a significant enhancement to the modulating temperature mode of DSC. Specifically, the program carries out a series of very rapid specific heat capacity measurements and provides the material scientist with a powerful means of collecting and interpreting thermal analysis data.
