Recent developments in Manufacturing Systems Engineering curricula at Rensselaer

This paper describes Rensselaer's TRP Project which is focused on enhancing a Master's program through development of a Manufacturing Systems Engineering case library and teaching factory emulation facility (TFEF). The case library and lab facility have been used extensively in MSE related courses and have had a major impact on the MSE curriculum. The impact of the project is described in terms of courses, students, feedback from program graduates, curriculum design changes and follow on support for continuing curriculum development. Plans for sustaining a climate of innovation in curriculum development through a doctoral fellowship and faculty apprenticeship program are also discussed.
