摘要
Fiber reinforced ceramic materials have been developed consisting of fine grained RSiC matrix and a SiC-fiber fabric (Hi-NICALON (TM)). Tape casting was used as shape forming technique. The obtained flexible green tapes were laminated using different methods. In this way, composite specimens were received after firing, which exhibited a typical sandwich structure with alternating layers of RSiC and more or less RSiC containing fiber fabrics. Strength testings showed that the fiber reinforcement improved the toughness of RSiC ceramics. Two different toughening effects were identified.
