This Matching polarization in both the transmitter and receiver antennas is important in terms of decreasing transmission losses. The use of circularly polarized antennas presents an attractive solution to achieve this polarization match which allows for more flexibility between transmitting and receiving antennas, reduces the effect of multipath reflections, enhances weather penetration and allows for the mobility of both the transmitter and the receiver. This paper proposes a circularly polarized micro-strip patch antenna which is a set of 7X7 meta surface based patch antenna and is fed by a co-axial feed. With the use of meta-material, improved performance in terms of axial ratio bandwidth is achieved. The antenna consists of a rectangular, slotted patch radiator, a meta-surface of 7X7 rectangular ring unit cells and a coaxial feed using GILMC5 substrate. The final design, with an overall size of (21.9357mmX15.65mmX4.8mm) was fabricated and measured. The antenna has a measured 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of (3.61-4.38) GHz (16.90%), a gain of 6.59dB, (3.94-4.24) GHz bandwidth (7.1428%) at 4.2 GHz. Desired patch antenna design is initially simulated by using ANSYS HFSS Simulator and patch antenna is realized as per design requirements.
