The African American adolescents' inability to resolve interpersonal conflicts nonviolently continues to be a major concern issue. This article will examine variables that contributes to interpersonal conflicts in the African American adolescent population. Some of these variables include exposure to violence, poverty, and gender: The article will explore the adolescents' methods of resolving conflicts with family members and with their peer group. The article will explore a training program designed to enhance adolescents' conflict resolution methods. In addition, the article will discuss the social cognitive theory in relationship to self-efficacy and aggressive behavior Finally, there will be a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the research studies in this article.
