摘要
This study provides a survey of the research on why more profitable firms pay their employees more. After surveying the empirical and theoretical studies made on the topic, it is concluded that firms which are more profitable pay more to keep their employees loyal to the firm. It is argued that the phenomenon is of importance to understand the development on the Finnish labour market. An example of this is the increased use of profit sharing schemes.
