摘要
This article begins by reviewing the status of the applied science of education. What research base can support restructuring of university-level science and mathematics education? The next section discusses the challenges and impediments to widespread useful restructuring of university education to reflect our current knowledge of best educational practice. The final section describes a model of change currently being used at Carnegie Mellon University and discusses the role of and need for active support from funding sources.
