IN-WORK POVERTY IN SPAIN. A dynamic analysis

The relationship between the risk of poverty and the participation in the labour market has gained major attention in last years. The majority of the research carried out in this field is from a cross-sectional perspective. The dynamic analysis of poverty is particularly interesting for answering several questions: is employment enough to avoid poverty? Is in-work poverty a temporal or a permanent state? In this article in-work poverty dynamics in Spain are analyzed with the objective of determining whether entries into in-work poverty are temporal, whether people fall several times in that situation or, on the contrary, whether in-work poverty can become in a permanent situation which is very difficult to leave. At the same time, the different duration profiles of in-work poverty are analyzed.
