INSTABILITIES IN A MODEL GAS TURBINE COMBUSTOR: THEORY AND EXPERIMENT

摘要
This paper deals with thermo-acoustic instabilities in a model gas turbine combustor. Such instabilities are a problem in some industrial combustors, where they can lead to catastrophic hardware damage. A quarter-wavelength burner with rectangular cross-section is investigated. The end conditions are described by complex pressure reflection coefficients. The flame spans the width of the burner and is compact in the axial direction of the burner. This paper reports work in progress on the experimental and theoretical front. Eigenfrequencies and mode shapes are measured and compared with the theoretical predictions.
