Research on the Comprehensive Evaluation Technology for Aerospace Components Based on Readiness Level Model

A readiness comprehensive evaluation method is presented for the aerospace components in view of their whole life cycles in the paper, which is applicable for the production, design and usage of components in China and the complex aerospace environment. In this evaluation method, the corresponding index is introduced and quantified with the component performance classification taken into consideration. An evaluation system is set up to ensure the safety of aerospace components in the process of usage. Different levels of readiness are clearly divided according to the readiness concept of aerospace components and different stages in their life cycles. The main contents and key points of each level are specified in the convenience of evaluation. A dimensionless numerical model and a series of criteria are proposed, and different evaluation processes are listed which are suitable for all components. The evaluation is allowed to begin from a known level when the components have corresponding information. Otherwise it should be carried out from the first level without leapfrog. A trapezoid development method of readiness after evaluation is given in the paper and it's very helpful to improve components performance and availability. This readiness comprehensive evaluation method provides technical support for formulation of readiness criteria and development of component readiness levels in major aerospace projects of China.
