摘要
A petroglyph from the Dakhla Oasis, probably datable between before 3000 BC and the Fifth or Sixth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, has a scene where a wild Suid is identifiable. This Suid exhibits anatomical characteristics which could be those of the wild boar, Sus scrofa, or those of the warthog, Phacochoerus aethiopicus. This representation is very interesting because the first species is rarely represented in Egypt before the Christian era, and it would be the first representation of the second species in Egypt during pharaonic times.
