Martensitic transformation and magnetic properties of Ni-base Heusler alloys

摘要
The martensitic transformation behavior and magnetic properties were investigated for the ferromagnetic shape memory alloys of Ni-16.7 similar to 23.5 at%Mn-25.0 at%Ga. X-ray diffraction revealed that the structure of martensite phase changes from monoclinic (10M or 14M) to those reported by Martynov with the composition approaching to the stoichiometric Heusler composition. Martensitic transformation temperature decreases with the Mn concentration. TEM observations revealed that the intervariant boundaries in monoclinic martensites are very often serrated. Saturation magnetization increases monotonously with Mn concentration in both parent phase and martensite state.
