From the crisis to the emergence of a new debate: The contemporary social sciences in Latin America

The study examines the development of contemporary social sciences in Latin America and underlines its originality in the gestation of theoretical proposals, particularly the coloniality of power. It explains the crisis of the social sciences in the eighties and the emergence of a new cognitive debate. Process that involves the review and criticism of the basic foundations that gave rise to knowledge since the fifteenth century and that mark the advent of another discourse beyond the limits of modernity.
