摘要
For an efficient operation of natural gas transmission pipelines an infrared differential absorption lidar (DIAL) has been developed. This systems combines advantageous properties such as a high detection sensitivity, compactness and robustness and fulfils the requirements of airborne gas pipeline surveillance onboard a small helicopter. The performance of this system was successfully tested on ground as well as in flight tests. Gas escapes of as little as 0.05 m(3)/h could be detected from a flight altitude of similar to100 m at a cruising speed of 90 km/h.
