AFRICAN DIASPORA ARCHAEOLOGY AND SOCIAL ACTIVISM

This article discusses the potential of African diaspora archaeology as social activism. Based on the case studies addressing the African diaspora archeology practice in its connection with heritage and musealization, we seek to contribute to the construction of an engaged archeology capable of being an agent of change in relation to social, political, economic, and environmental contemporary concerns. We conclude that our field as social activism should raise questions about the development of politics of reparation, as well as it should emulate awareness process in order to counter the coloniality of power, both in the discipline and in society.
