摘要
This article is the result of a research carried out with a group of students, from the 6th and 7th years of elementary school, who presented learning difficulties related to reading and writing language practices, in the context of Portuguese language classes. From the students' writings we identified the learning demands and analyzed the orthographic mistakes measuring the metalinguistic ability of phonological awareness as a learning deficit. Given these results, we conclude that teaching strategies with an emphasis on Metalinguistic development centered on the use of Metacognition, which is to reflect on one's own knowledge, ore necessary for students with learning difficulties to progress in the knowledge pertinent to reading and writing language practices.
