摘要
The distribution of various chromium species in individual wool fibers and the effect of various chromium treatments on wool morphology are studied by electron microscopy and x-ray energy dispersive analysis. In dichromate-treated wool, the chromium is evenly distributed across the fiber cross section, but if wool is pretreated with trivalent chromium salts, the chromium is hardly absorbed by the wool fiber and does not penetrate it at all. However, adding ligands such as lactic acid to the chromium (III) salts improves the penetration of trivalent chromium into wool fibers.
