摘要
The measurement-based admission control for real-time applications in a broadband packet network is studied by means of simple conservative rules. Assuming sources with peak rate as only declared parameter, we first provide an admission control criterion based on the measurement of the aggregate mean rate. In case of token bucket controlled sources, we propose an improvement of the so-called Hoeffding bound when the mean rate is measured only, as well as a new admission control algorithm based on the measurement of the bit rate variance. We also estimate the efficiency of the measurement process for the mean and variance of the aggregate bit rate, using the EWMA algorithm.
