摘要
30 million years ago, ancestors of Old World primates lost the ability to produce alpha-gal. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Singh et al. (2021) show that the loss is associated with increased resistance to sepsis, but that this advantage comes alongside a cost of accelerated reproductive senescence.
