摘要
Objectives: This paper will discuss the impact historic legislation and policies have had on the delivery of health services to Aboriginal peoples and look atthe efforts thatare underwayto amend the legislation and policies in order to provide health care and services to Aboriginal peoples. Methods: Literature review. Results: The present health services delivered to Aboriginal peoples are a direct result of historic legislation and policies that directly or indirectly produced jurisdictional barriers encountered by Aboriginal peoples and health service providers when seeking these services. Conclusions: Today there are health care providers that are addressing these jurisdictional barriers in an effortto adequately provide Aboriginal peoples with health services when required.
