Degradation of cryogenic soils in the areas of oil and gas prospecting

摘要：
Different types of degradation of soil cover in the areas of oil and gas prospecting within the Bol'shezemel'skaya tundra (the northernmost part of European Russia) are considered. The degree of soil degradation induced by deflation, mechanical disturbances, and oil pollution varies from the complete destruction of the soil cover to some worsening of soil properties. It is shown that tundra soils have a low capacity for self-rehabilitation.
