摘要
Sorghum growth and yield were studied in relation to low (I-L), medium (I-M), high (I-H) and high till anthesis (I-HA) irrigation treatments, in a seasonally dry climate. A drip irrigation system was used. Soil moisture was measured by neutron probe and rainfall was logged. Plant growth and biomass production were recorded by successive harvestings. The more water they received, plants were taller and produced larger leaf areas. Responses to irrigation were reflected in yield. Excluding I-HA, there was a final yield (dry matter) increase from I-L to I-H of 10 t/ha. However, water use was most efficient (54.0 - 57.2 kg/mm/ha) by I-M. Sorghum yield simulation can be expressed by a linear function of total crop water loss. Copyright (C) 1998 IFAC.
