Absorption sensor based on total internal reflection diffraction grating

摘要
Strongly absorbing liquids can be investigated using a total internal reflection diffraction grating. In this paper we have considered a model of a simple absorption sensor, based on this type of grating. The derived theoretical description of the grating's behaviour allows the inverse problem to be solved, i.e. the absorption coefficient of the liquid to be determined. from the diffraction efficiency change at different orders. The comparison between the theory and experiments shows satisfactory agreement within the experimental error.
