Synthesis of polycrystalline diamond with new non-metallic catalyst under high pressure and high temperature

摘要
Some oxide or double oxide compounds of iron family elements, such as FeTiO3, Fe2SiO4, Y3Fe5O12 and so on, were found to have a catalyst effect on the formation of diamond under high pressure and high temperature. They were also determined to act as an effective sintering agent for producing a polycrystalline diamond. By using Y3Fe5O12 as the sintering agent a homogeneous and strongly bonded polycrystalline diamond, having high hardness and superior heat resistance, was obtained even at 1850 degrees C.
