摘要
Over the last 15 years treatment with CSII has been stable on a very low level in Denmark. A nationwide study performed in 2001 explained the low number of CSII by diabetes specialists still thinking CSII to present an increased risk of DKA and severe hypoglycaemia, and having economical constraints. In Denmark the hospital department pays treatment with CSII. Any other treatment for diabetes is paid by the social security. Members of the Danish Society for Endocrinology have made a Medical Technology Evaluation followed by new guidelines for CSII. The National Board of Health has approved the guidelines. Thus, we just need to allocate the expenses outside the departments in order to increase the number of new CSII applications. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
