V-cb is the element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa. quark mixing matrix coupling the b-quark to the c-quark. Its smallness is responsible for the long lifetime of the B mesons. A precise measurement of vertical bar V-cb vertical bar is necessary to determine the scale of the Unitary Triangle and shed light on CP violating processes in B decays. The value of vertical bar V-cb vertical bar is determined from semileptonic b -> cl(-)(v) over barl decays, from either inclusive measurements, where the charm final state is not reconstructed, or from exclusive measurements, where the charm meson (either D or D*) produced in the final state is fully reconstructed.
