Surgical management of end stage wrist joint arthropathy includes wrist arthrodesis as well as motion sparing procedures such as partial arthrodesis techniques and total wrist arthroplasty. Total wrist arthroplasty components have evolved in distinct generations since their introduction in the 1970s. More favorable outcomes and survivorship are being reported with the current generation of implants, making this procedure a viable option in a certain subset of patients. As with virtually all arthroplasty procedures, meticulous adherence to good surgical technique is paramount to obtaining satisfactory long-term results. (C) 2020 Published by Elsevier Inc.
