Strengthening of porous Al2O3 ceramics through nanoparticle addition

摘要
The bending strength,fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of porous alumina with and without nano-Al2O3 additions was determined. Significant increases in bending strength a,ld fracture toughness were observed for the porous ceramics with nano-Al2O3 additions. The retained strength after thermal fatigue and the sustained number of thermal cycles before general failure of the porous ceramics with nano-Al2O3 additions are higher than that without additions.
