摘要
The Johnson noise thermometer at MSL is a switching digital-correlator with the reference resistor maintained at the triple point of water. Critical blocks of the electronics system including the preamplifiers, band-pass filters and analog-to-digital converters are powered by batteries, maintained in a radio-frequency screened cabinet and isolated by fibre-optic interfaces. The final signal processing stages are carried out in real-time in the frequency domain using a personal computer. Frequency domain processing has the advantage of digital selection of the bandwidth, sensitive tests for electromagnetic interference, and compact storage of all measurements. A summary uncertainty analysis shows that an accuracy (1sigma) of 0.001% should be achievable. Progress towards the determination of the indium freezing point is reported.
