Magnetic separator with transversally magnetised disk permanent magnets

摘要
A novel design of magnetic separator with transversally magnetised disk permanent magnets is described in the present paper. The theoretical calculation using the finite element method of the magnetic field gradients shows that force factors of about 600 T-2/m are achieved in the regions of the highest magnetic field density. Dynamic simulation of the behaviour of particles in the magnetic field of the device indicates that a very Selective susceptibility-dependent magnetic separation is attained. For fine particles, the calculated lower limit of magnetic susceptibility for which the separator still works efficiently can be as small as chi = 10(-4). (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
