Some thoughts concerning development and utilization of urban underground space in China

in terms of the planning, management and legislation of underground space, this paper aims to give a preliminary analysis and discussion of the status quo of China's urban underground space development and utilization and its existing problems; meanwhile to explore causes of the problem. As a result, it illustrates that for large-scale exploitation of urban underground space in our country, these problems are not on challenges but also opportunities for us. As the problems are caused by the gap from the goal, to identify problems is the first step, which creates the basis and prerequisite for setting clear objectives and implementing action strategies.
