摘要
The importance of aluminum alloys, due to their light weight, and physical and mechanical characteristics and their applications in aerospace and automotive industries is discussed. Various studies are conducted to increase the mechanical properties of Al-Si alloys in semi solid and solid state states. The use of Al-Si alloys in engines, pistons, and rims resulted in a weight reduction of a car by ~ 40% with good engine performance and by casting of an engine using Al-Si alloys, VEGA2300 engine was developed. It is reported that in the liquid state Al-Si eutectic and hypereutectic alloys show Si agglomerates at a high temperature of 1075°C and various attempts are done to refine the microstructure of these alloys from liquid state using chemical modifiers or Electromagnetic Stirring and Vibration (ESV) techniques. Laser Raman spectroscopy is an analytical technique that uses light scattering to identify molecular vibrations from quenched liquid samples of 390.1 Al-Si alloys.
