Implementing Scrum as an IT Project Management Agile Methodology in a Large Scale Institution

This paper presents an overview of the process of implementing a Project Management Agile Methodology in organizations at a large scale. The authors present case studies on organizations that designed and/or implemented Agile as a Project Management methodology at a large scale, involving a whole IT department or even the whole organization. The key factors that facilitate or hinder the implementation of this type of management methodologies in IT projects are identified. Agile Methodologies in IT Project Management raise interest in the academic context since these methodologies address the challenging compromise between balancing the process of developing an application or platform itself and all the other variables that involve the management of an IT project. This paper shows the development of the research on the use of Agile Methodologies based on real cases, providing the means to understand the success and failure of non-human and human activity in the context of IT project developments.
