摘要
The situation of classical swine fever (CSF) in the wild boar population of Europe is described, with special reference to the course of infection and transmission of CSF virus (CSVF) a within the wild boar population and from wild boar to domestic pigs. Susceptible young boars and wild sows infected juring pregnancy play an important role in the perpetuation of CSF. Furthermore, the perpetuation is promoted by a high population density. Once CSFV is detected in wild boar it is recommended to set up a defined infected area, and a monitoring zone around the defined infected area. All wild boar found dead or shot by hunters must be investigated. The trade of wild boar meat, of live domestic pigs and fresh pork is restricted in this area. CSF control in wild boar population, has to be focused on an intensive diagnosis of all dead and shot wild boar, hygiene measures to prevent spread of CSFV by hunting and by transport of wild boar or wild boar meat, and the reduction of population density, especially of young boars. The oral immunization using a live virus vaccine is described. This immunization procedure could be a complementary tool in future CSF control.
