摘要
Everybody has his own fingerprints which are not the same as anyone else and unchangeable all his life. Japanese police has been utilizing fingerprints as one of the most important measures since 1911, however they were rolled ten fingerprints system which was only identified by combination or classification. In 1982, National Police Agency of Japan(NPA) developed and introduced Automated Fingerprint Identification System(AFIS), which computerized the process of ex-traction of minutiae and the matching-process of minutiae from the NPA's database. This was the first system in the world which realized automated latent fingerprint matching. In 1997, NPA made AFIS advanced by introducing on-line teminals. This made possible to make inquiry from many remote sites such as Prefecture Police Headquarters(PPH) and Police Stations(PS). Thus rye could drastically shorten the inquiry time. This paper describes the outline of advanced AFIS and its components and so on.
