Negative regulation of insulin signaling by PTEN/MMAC1 in 3T3-L1 adipocytes

摘要
PTEN is a tumor suppressor with sequence homology to protein tyrosine phosphatases and the cytoskeletal protein tensin. PTEN is capable of dephosphorylating PI(3,4,5)P-3 in vitro and down-regulating its levels in insulin-stimulated 293 cells. We found that PTEN acts as a negative regulator of insulin signaling pathway in 3T3 L1 adipocytes, and that GLUT I translocation is actually dependent on the balance between PI3-kinase and PTEN activity, although PTEN's physiological role is still unknown.
